I've spotted some teachers sleeping during assembly at the back of the hall.

I realised that late comers who were late more than 3 times were having detention for the whole day sitting on the floor in GO. Most of them because of dentention, they had missed their lessons and provided test. i suggest that, other ways could be done ,be it a 1 or 2 hours, its much more than a day of detention. it affects students ' grades.

1) I think that teachers should control their emotions and anger properly.

2) Don't always blame the students for the bad day and scold the students out of frustration.

3) Teachers should aproach the students in a different way instead of just scolding everytime.

4) Students may feel demoralised due to harsh words used by teachers.

5) Words of encouragement is also very essential for students.

6) Teachers should also understand that their way of teaching will affect the student's interest towards the subject.

I think that a good teacher should be one who is always concerned about the student's life and give words of encouragement when he/she sees that the student is troubled by studies as well as motivate them at times of difficulties.

However, I think that this is hard to archieve as I can see that most of the teachers are also stressed by their own matters & always busy with work. Students understand as well.

Most teachers are doing their best for the students. But they might have to work more on the "words of encouragement". =P

Teachers have to attend to SO many students. How can you expect the teachers to look after SO many students. It's really hard to find a good teacher.

This is not related.
But i just want to leave a comment.
*Teachers should ask students to seperate their tables when it comes to exams. Sometimes, i observe that students in class will ask their friends for answers when their teacher was not looking.
I think this is not fair to other students.
So i hope you will tell other teachers during the meeting.

Sometimes handling students maybe difficult to do on a daily basis, but teachers have to understand that it is also difficult for students.i hope that teachers, esp those who teach sec 4 students will b much more encouraging, especially specific maths teachers.

Mrs Ng mew leng and Mr Tan TC are real good teachers.

But on the issue on late coming, i agree with that anonymous.

I seriously think that detention does not help. Instead, seriously pusishment like cleaning the school for one whole month, paying a fine when they are late (some of the teachers are doing this when we didn't bring the books).

Detenation only make them fail their gade and show more attiude.

hi, do u noe why teachers want to have detention for the whole day? cos teachers want them to fail exam and retain them. and worst, kick them out of the school.

As known to all, all sec4s and 5s will be stepping down officially in April. The main purpose for the 'stepping down' is to allow the students to have more time to revise for the o'levels.

However, students will be unable to do so. Because some teachers kept throwing tonnes of duties to the students and most of them even have to fork out their time during the june holiday to help out for their respective CCAs.

I think this is not really fair, teachers should seek for the student's opinion if there is time for to squeeze out for any CCA activities.

Therefore, i think an ideal teacher should be caring and understanding towards the students and allow students to explain if they have done something wrong instead of scolding them infront of the others.

If we did badly in our test , a word of encouragement is what we need.we at that time might we sad alrd , plus teacher's scolding and parents nagging.its more stressful.even a word , is enough for us.

Firstly, your thinking is really immature. Detention is something for you to learn from your mistake and not repeat it again.Secondly, i assume that you've been to detention before. But the worst thing is you cant say that teachers want to kick them out of the school. Do you even think they have the rights to do such things?
No, their job is to help students. Try putting yourself into the teacher's place. You cant go out on weekends just to mark your BELOVED student's homework. You guys do 1 piece teachers marks 40 plus? Try being a teacher school mate.
And anyway about the failing thing? It must have shown that they've been getting detention for quite a number of times and why is that so?You're complaining when you dont do our own job as a student well. You must know that you cant only rely on school teachers to help you, you got to do your own revision as well kid. If you depend on teachers, then what for have tuition?
And about harsh words? sometimes yes i agree that students will feel very demoralised BUT sometimes it does help cause the student will do his/her very best to prove it to the teacher
